I just love people and I love teaching them! My passion is helping students learn by breaking subjects or projects down into steps, and guiding the students through them in a way that helps them learn and produces great work. I love making teaching fun, and include in my teaching/tutoring creative methods which help students remember and learn, including music, dancing, drawing--whatever it takes to help the student learn and enjoy learning. I homeschooled my children from preschool through 3rd grade and LOVED teaching them and watching the light turn on as they learned new concepts. I taught college composition, and LOVED helping my college students transform their ideas and their passions into great writing. My goal is to have my students consider themselves writers when they are finished with my classes. I hold a master's degree in English with an emphasis in teaching writing. I also hold an undergraduate degree in language arts education, and graduated certified to teach elementary through high school English.

Hobbies
Leading children's clubs/groups at church, especially designing activities, games, field trips and guest speakers to teach concepts to the children. I enjoy being very creative in teaching, and like to bring action and fun into the learning process. When I teach younger kiddos, I am generally on my feet, using hand motions, body motions, clapping, singing to promote better, fun learning. I am also able to follow instructions given by a teacher/principal and incorporate the instructions into my teaching style. With older students, I incorporate different styles of brainstorming, pre-writing, writing and revising so that students learn how the writing process works and to improve their writing as they learn how the writing process can help them produce better writing. I strive to help students see themselves as writers, to feel confident in their writing ability and to use it in all facets of their education and work.
